| The curriculum offered includes a wide range of subjects
preparing girls for public examinations and for future careers. Where
applicable subjects are taught following the programmes suggested by the
national curriculum. In the first and second year all senior girls
follow the same general course covering a wide range of subjects.
In the third year some choice of subjects is available. In the fourth
and fifth years all girls take English and English Literature, Mathematics,
French or German and Physical Education, Dual
Award or three separate Sciences. Two or three other subjects are
chosen from a range of options.

| Careers advice is
an important part of the timetable. The school has a well equipped careers
room in which girls may consult the information displayed or ask the advice
of our careers teacher who is also happy to see parents with girls by arrangement.
Work experience is arranged for all girls in the fifth year and work shadowing
is part of the Sixth Form programme. Help and guidance is given in preparation
for interviews and general careers talks are held most weeks. All these,
a careers convention , and liaison with Tyneside TEC and the Newcastle
Careers Centre ensure that every girl is able to make an informed choice
about her future.
The staff-pupil ratio is excellent and setting higher up the school in some subjects ensures even smaller teaching groups. The staff are dedicated to the development of each individual. Emphasis is on a formal teaching style incorporating discussions, practical exercises and videos. Numerous expeditions are arranged throughout the year for recreational and educational purposes.
