| Biology, Chemistry & Physics are taught as separate
subjects throughout the school. Practical work is an integral part
of the course at all levels and there are opportunities to take part in
field trips and other visits. There is a Science Club for pupils
in years 7, 8 & 9.
At GCSE, pupils may choose between studying the three sciences (giving 3 GSCE grades) or a Co-ordinated Science course (giving two equal GCSE grades). In either case the individual sciences are allotted equal time and are taught by specialist subject teachers. One or more of the sciences may be studied at A-level, whichever route has been chosen at GCSE. At present linear syllabuses are followed in each subject, but reforms of the A-level system will be closely monitored and A-levels and/or modular courses may be introduced in the future when appropriate. |
