CAREERS
Although a non-examination programme, Careers Education and Guidance is nevertheless considered to be an important part of the school's curriculum.  Years 9 to 13 have regular Careers lessons and guidance interviews, following a structured programme through which we aim to develop personal skills and awareness before the student has to approach choices and decisions of GCSE, A-level and Degree subjects.  Our programme is specifically devised to provide the students in our school with the relevant advice resources and experience they are likely to need in order to have a broad range of options when making their choices.  As indicated in the Dearing Report and other Careers literature we aim to ensure that pupils have: 
  •  a relevant curriculum
  • access to careers information
  • experience of work
  • action planning
  • recording of achievement (not yet a whole school policy as with the NRA)
  • parental involvement
  • partnership with the Careers Service
  • links with business, community groups and other educational establishments.
We have support from Senior Management, occasional cross-curricular links with colleagues and input from the Governors, parents, employers and other friendly contacts.
