THE SCHOOL MAGAZINE

The Senior School Magazine is published at the end of each academic year; it provides a record of a wide range of school activities, promoting both the achievements of individuals and the work carried out within different subject areas.  The magazine also provides an opportunity for pupils to see their creative writing in print and helps to maintain the link between the school and its thriving Old Girl network.  This enables girls leaving school to stay in touch via the school.  There is an annual dinner arranged every year at the school.  Old girls are also sent the school magazine.  Anyone interested, please contact The Newcastle upon Tyne Church High School .

School magazines

Girls at all levels of the school are invited to contribute reports, photography, artwork and creative writing.  They are also actively encouraged to participate in the production process as a whole.  A  Sixth Form  Committee meet at lunchtimes to shape the magazine’s content each year, taking responsibility for the selection of sub-mitted articles and for the commissioning of special features.  They work closely with the Editor and a Lower Sixth Committee, open to girls from years 7, 8
and 9.

In the later stages of production, the school’s  I.T.  suites provide an ideal working environment where articles can be fine-tuned using word-processing and desktop publishing packages.  At present, working on the magazine allows girls to experience a real sense of involvement with the school as a community; in the future, as their ability to use computer technology grows, it is hoped pupils can play an even more active role in a largely school-based production process.

Without the practical and creative contributions of a dedicated, hard-working team of pupils, the Senior School magazine could not be the success that it is each year, well-received by pupils and parents alike.
