 The
Sixth Form is a vital part of the school. The girls have their own building,
Tankerville House, opposite the main school. Their facilities include a
large workroom, common room and kitchen and several lecture rooms. Most
girls take three "A Level" courses from the wide range of subjects available.
Almost all Sixth Formers proceed to higher education courses, with a good
percentage gaining places at Oxford and Cambridge. The girls are encouraged
to participate in courses outside their own specialisms, to take on various
responsibilities in school and to be involved in community service. They
are not required to wear school uniform. The sixth form have their own
committee and organise the annual music and drama festivals. Under the
pastoral care system each girl is assigned a tutor who ensures her smooth
progression through the sixth form. Sixth Formers benefit from outside
speakers, expeditions, an annual study skills course and extensive careers
guidance. |
